Project KTM 390 Adventure – Tail Tidy

<< Project KTM 390 Adventure – Skid Plate

I’m not sure why, but the KTM Duke 390 comes with a ridiculous looking tail that stretches way out than it should.

Apart from looking weird, it rattles on rough roads and makes a racket. On seriously bad roads or when riding over speed bumps the tip of the tail hits the mud guard making a sound as if someone is pelting stones at you from behind.

I had to do something about that wretched tail and I toyed with the idea of grabbing a hacksaw and getting to work on it myself. Many Duke owners have done that already but I didn’t quite like what I saw. I searched for a tail tidy online and found a couple. I liked the one from EvoTech the best. I finally decided to shell out Rs 10,500 and bought it from Bay City Speed Shop in Mumbai. I know that’s quite a lot of a couple of pieces of mass produced injection moulded plastic. But this mod was purely about aesthetics and I wanted a perfect job.

I’ll need to make a new number plate as the holes in the tail tidy don’t match up with those on the stock number plate.

Speaking of the number plate, there stock tail comes with a small white light that illuminates the number plate. The EvoTech tail tidy has a place to house this light which is neat.
